Energy prices have appeared in the news a lot in recent months. This is hardly surprising considering the mass increase in energy prices for both gas and electricity that have occurred. As a result a big question a lot of homes have asked themselves is ‘how can we save on our bills?’ The answer back from governments across the world has been similar – be more energy efficient. When money isn’t as forthcoming, this is easier said than done.

Solar panels, hydroelectricity and wind power have all been touted as the next big things in energy efficiency for the last 20 years, yet only a fraction of the world’s population relies on them. Worse yet in the UK people are constantly thumped with advertising from both government and private sectors telling everyone how they need to be more efficient and save as much energy in the home as possible. All the material usually ends with a cost calculation on how much money customers can expect to save by following these ‘energy efficient'guidelines. Yet even there, people have been led astray by scams claiming to be the answer to all of our energy problems.

Enigin scam busters is an initiative from the foremost energy savings company in the world. Based in the UK, Enigin has led the way in making its goal to provide everyone with an energy saving solution a top priority. As such they have been investigating and highlighting a lot of scams that have cropped up in the past several years. With energy bills set to soar even higher in the next year, it is worth being guarded over the money we spend particularly when it comes to energy savings.

There have been a number of new technologies that have emerged which on paper sound like great energy saving ideas, but look a little closer and it soon becomes apparent that they are nothing more than a placebo to fool the general public. People have been made desperately aware by governments across the world how serious the energy crisis is. In the UK there is a very real possibility that the National Grid could begin to fail on a regular basis in the near future due to the shortage of resources and the very low reserves Britain has. Pundits would call successive governments ‘short sighted'to say the least, and there is a big case to make against the private sector having far too much influence over the nation’s energy policy regarding contracts and suppliers. This is why identifying scams is important now more than ever.

Enigin may be fighting an uphill struggle, but thanks to the experience and the wealth of knowledge they have in exposing fraudsters and products that don’t quite do as much as they say they do on the tin, they are the best placed group to help a weary consumer save time and money on reducing their carbon footprint.

We have now seen enough of the new coallition government to know that in reality, we have to question whether change, and I am talking about real change, will ever happen. I am all for having a democracy, and I think that you can never really operate under any other system effectively. However, the constarints of our financial systems, and the worldwide economic climate and relationships, not to mention all of the trade embargos and alliances, mean that no matter who is running the country, their hands are always tied from making the changes needed.

This is not a conspiracy story about men in bespoke designer suits, having control over the governments of the world, but an honest look at the uncontrolable circumstances that govern what the government is able to do during their time in power. I think that things such as the fact that the country is already in so much debt when the new government took over, limit the impact that they can have and the amount of policies they can actually impliment. One of the main problems that has come out of the recent financial crisis, is that many of the top businesses and banks have now changed the way that they operate in order to protect themselves. This menas that unemployment figures have risen, but not due to bad government policy, but years and years of global bad practise.

One thing that people are up in arms about at the monent is the problem with pensions. If you look at the situation objectively, you would recognise that the government are in a very difficult situation, and going forward in the next 20 years, pensions are going to be almost impossible to fund. This is down to a simple numbers game. In the past there were up to 16 working people to pay for every pension. Now there are less than 10, and in the future there will actually be nearly as many dependants as workers, and this simply does not work out.

Skepticism as to the stability of the EU as a system keeps increasing as nations members in the Union keep arguing over the bail-out measures and the financial environment in the organization. But such skepticism appears to be badly structured and unreasonable given the overall condition of the Union system and the benefits that Europe and the whole world in general extract from the united continent. Below are some of the reasons why the EU is strong and stable even during times of recession.

Firstly, the Union is strong in terms of binding legislation. It has managed to produce legal rules which ensure European uniformity and stability of system integration. This in itself is a condition strong enough to withhold any disturbances in the European Union internal market. Furthermore, and in addition to the existing legislation, Member States aim to promote European diversity and uniformity on national level thus ensuring strong relationship between their regional partners.

Second point of consideration is given to the economic advantages of the EU. The freedom of movement of capital, persons, goods and services allows for the distribution of wealth not only within a single network but among different nationalities and within borders of different countries. This is a factor enhancing international cooperation and allowing for stronger ties between EU member states.

Apart from the increase in social and economic cooperation that is observed due to the legislation in the Union, purely money-related practices are also available for consideration. The fact that you can obtain legal services from www.brookman.co.uk even if you live permanently in Germany or purchase cotton from Bulgaria free of duty charge even if you live in Finland, is evidence of the integration that has occurred among businesses in the EU. This makes the Union stronger not only on political, but on purely individual-to-individual and private level.

It is a pity that the United Kingdom does not have more money in its hand. One can safely say that America is in the same position that UK was after the end of the Second World War. Its economy is in tatters and people are finding it difficult to prepare for a long tough economic collapse ahead. In case of UK, there was no alternative as war had placed a huge burden on the economy.

Well, America may not have been involved in a direct war but its military intervention in multiple countries at the same time has devastated its economy. Of course, one would expect nations to be careful and prudent when dealing with an economic threat like war. However, the sub prime mortgage crisis followed by the collapse of major financial institutions clearly showed that America had overplayed its hand.

America was the country that had revived the European economy after the Second World War. It had achieved this by using the Lend Lease Act. Of course, this was not the only financial transaction between the two continents. However, it symbolized the amount of financial effort that the American nation had invested in Europe. Of course, the returns of its investments ensured that America became the biggest economy in the world. It has occupied the status for the past fifty years.

UK on the other hand has been forced to the lower ranks. From being a global player, UK has been reduced to peddling HR software UK to other countries. The world has moved on and UK has become just another player. More cash would have meant that United Kingdom would be in a position to replicate the old process and come up with some magical financial solution that would have helped Americans and would have ensured the ascendancy of the UK to the pinnacle of the global economy.

The financial problems that the EU faced recently proved to be a components of the institution that can endanger the well being of every country being a member state into the organization. This is the reason why EU leaders needed to adopt a solution to the problem by raising significant financial capital for the future and thus avoid any disturbances in the economic stability of the region. The EU leaders introduced the so called financial tax and the European Commission agreed to make recommendations and fasten the implementations of such tax - something that the UK furiously opposes.

The proposed legislation by the EU seems to be infringing the desired ’EU tax platform'by the UK - the country wishes less financial interference from the EU in its domestic banking regulations. However, as the Commission President Barrosso expressly stated, it is time for the financial sector to make its contribution to the society. And just like every business pays to the state it operates in - from caravan insurance agents to large technology corporations, the financial system in the face of EU banks would be paying tax to the Union itself.

This is the main discussion the Commission would put to voting procedure in the following months. The taxation system is simple - banks would pay tax over transactions they conduct. This would guarantee over 55 billion Euros entering the European Central Bank as EU money - a fund that might be used for fighting crisis.

But the British resist - the BBC informs us that political leaders have announced a decision to veto the proposition and thus block its fulfillment as a legal principle in the EU. The UK is not willing to allow its banks to enter the EU tax system directly - this might cause significant money loss for the country should there be any disturbances on the EU economic scene.

However, the UK accepted to enter the Union willingly and quite adequately - so it is up to the other decision makes in the Union to decide the faith of all countries, including our fine Kingdom. And this time, this seems to be a good piece of legislation that is seeking approval.

A growing concern for the international community and the international business developers is India - the country is quite obviously failing to address problems related to increasing corruption on the higher levels of power and political leaders themselves close their own eyes in front of injustice in the governance of the country. Recent developments indicate just the same despite the slight hope for a change after the arrest of a corrupted magistrate in the court system in the country.

The problems India had with corruption greatly vary within the ruling and private sector of the country - bankers are ready to give unsecured business loans in exchange for some money under the table, politicians are ready to ignore the needs for a whole village just to get some new cars and a villa by the seaside. And while corruption seems to comfort the needs for most of the leading figures of the country, a proposed bill in the legislative system of the country might actually estop this. An activist, jailed for raising his voice and released due to the love of the public, has proposed legislation limiting the power of political leaders in terms of financial decisions - thus greater accountability can be achieved when the money goes through an independent financial adviser.

And while the Parliament is almost certainly rejecting this bill, one of India’s highest judges has been suspended and investigated. He is now arrested by the authorities for participating in corruption schemes that have gained him some several millions dollars per year. This is going to be the first judge ever removed from office and evicted from public service duties in the history of India. And it remains the only mark that something in a positive direction is being made to prevent future degrading in the country due to corruption schemes.

The Economist has put it right in their newest issue - we now speak of American idiocracy rather than of American economic genius. Recent developments show that American politicians are quite smart when it comes to ensuring a resource of insults for the Parliamentary chambers. They, however, prove incompetent to provide economic solutions to their public and to the world and keep playing political games the outcome of which would determine the financial situation in the world for the next 5 years.

First the American debt was not a properly addressed issue as the politicians underestimated the market vulnerability to political debates. Thus the markets collapsed and the Americans'credit rating was reduced for the first time in almost a century. Politicians were arguing for days before reaching a decision on how to stabilize the debt market - during these days the US debt increased tremendously and forced brokers and exchange specialists to sell debt at lower rates - thus the economy is now suffering from unattributed funds.

Secondly, now when everything is a fact and a crisis is almost inevitable, politicians are again struggling to find common language. They enter some unpleasant verbal fights and the result is clear - Obama is blaming one political party, they are blaming the opposition and the President is getting scrutinized by the international financial leaders.

If the struggle for political balance continues in the US, many of the people would be affect in a matter worse than the events in 2007-2008. Even the important NHS nursing jobs in the states would be at risk. So let us wait and see - in Britain we always claim to be politically reasonable so it might be difficult to understand a bunch of old guys in the Parliament of the largest world economy arguing about whose fault the debt crisis was rather than actually taking actions to deliver better financial solutions to the world.

Several years ago it was finally officially announced that the rumors about the production and development of the last manned fighter (F-35) are true. With colour graphics, with performance sheets and with ’certain'production costs, the participators in the project (the USA, the UK, France, Canada, Norway and Denmark) revealed the extraordinary machine that rule the skies - the ultimate air-force striker, the most feared place of all. However, the release date has long passed, the project is delayed with more than 6 years and the cost… well that really is a sad story.

Firstly, the plane would have been extremely modern if it started operating last year, as predicted. However, politicians, financial recessions, lack of money, lack of expertise and many other side factors brought instability into the project. Thus the release date was postponed and the plane, designed in 2007 would be operational 6 years after its official release date. This raises some concerns about what exactly would be so modern about it - until then the Chinese would be most probably using space fighters with ultimate weaponry. Nevertheless, on paper, this would be the most advanced plane any air force has ever been able to operate with and develop.

And while the first predictions are kind of obscure and unproved, a second line of reasoning makes this project as shaky as the Japanese sea tectonic plates. The plane has so far cost to governments of developers billions of US dollars and in times of recession this is extremely burdening for both taxpayers and international investment bankers. So no matter how good it is going to be, it becomes a guilty military pleasure for the countries developing the project and even a more fearful weapon for enemies of NATO.

Provoked by severe hatred against political unrest, the Kingdom of Bahrain that rules the Shia people which are a majority in the country, sentenced the Shia democracy activists to life imprisonment in a trial by a special security court. This rather political decision has shown not only the impossible conditions for a political change in the country but also exposed the politics of a country that until recently was considered the financial center of the Middle East.

These actions display cabinets different governmental players as the most protected destinations in the country. Civil liberties seem to matter no more and the political orientation of the country seems to be focused mainly on prohibiting things rather than allowing. A quick reminder - the political unrest was driven by a desire for a change, for a better future for the Muslim country, but it ended in blood, in devastation, in several life sentences and … in an unchanged political order.

So what did the court achieve? This question begs for an answer only because we all saw what happened, we saw how Bahrain ignored the precautions of the Western world not to hurt people who simply want a better life. On the contrary, the Shia people in the realm just got served an extra dose of terror - now they need to show they are no Shias and they need to look after their families in a political orientation-free way, without demanding anything from the government and without inquiring about their legal rights.

A political trial in Bahrain ends the political unrest in the country - but a satisfactory political decision has not yet been reached.

Continuous car insurance has become mandatory in Britain. This means that any person who does not have adequate car insurance is no longer permitted to even have a car in his or her premises. The earlier rule barred those without car insurance from taking their car out on the road. Now, the car owner will have to seek a formal Statutory Off Road Notification to have a car at home without insurance.

This issue is causing a lot of heartburn for the masses. The irate critics are hitting out at the government and wish the government pays more attention to immigration, hair drug testing and other such issues of public importance.

Any tinkering with car insurance rules is never a good thing as people often pay $6,000 or more every year to insure their vehicle. This money goes down the drain if no accident takes place or no claim is filed.

The government has defended itself by pointing out the fantastic advantages of crashing into an individual who has adequate car insurance. There is little consensus on whether the new rule will make roads safer.

Those who do not buy car insurance always face the risk of losing their car registration and driving license. This rule merely tweaks how the obligation is perceived. The end result is that an individual who delays renewal of the car insurance policy by a day is treated at par with an individual who skips auto insurance as a routine affair. Only time will tell whether this step will cause reach change at ground level.
